Whether you’re a seasoned gap year adventurer or you’ve never flown before, the boom in budget air travel means that super-savvy students can now afford to travel just about anywhere they like! The hardest part seems to be deciding where to go, but fear not because here to help you I’ve got the lowdown on where to while away your precious free time!
Short haul
Now that everyone’s being eco-friendly, short haul flights mean that you can get away without feeling so guilty about your carbon footprint. Holiday hotspots include Morocco if you’re up for some winter sun or Europe if you fancy hitting the slopes: nothing beats some fun on and off the piste! Another plus to short-haul travel is the fact you can get away for a cheeky weekend and still get back in time for your Monday lecture! Thanks to the Euro’s gain in strength however, you may have to forget about lavish hotels and opt for cheaper hostel options, since the cost of living can be high!
Long haul
For those who can spare a bit more time and cash, long haul, or flights over six hours, can mean a visit to far flung destinations including South-East Asia and Australia, or you could even follow the footsteps of our favourite Gap Yah kid and head to Peru! Once you’ve forked out for the hefty airfare you can look forward to free food, alcohol and movies on the plane as well as cheap hotels and nights out once you’re there... the culture difference means that you can pretty much get up to anything whilst topping up on your summer sun! Hours of sitting down on a flight may not be everyone’s cup of tea however, so steer clear if you’re not keen on flying or can’t go without your smoking fix!
So what are you waiting for? Come fly with me, let’s fly let’s fly away...
